About
SABES (STEM Achievement in Baltimore Elementary Schools), a JHU Center for Educational Outreach program, seeks to improve STEM curriculum and delivery in grades 4 – 5. SABES is hosting virtual sessions and we need your help for our Meet The Engineer portion! This year as we continue to cultivate engaging and exploratory online learning experiences, we want to introduce “Meet the Engineer” Video Presentations to showcase scientists/engineers (YOU!).
You will send us a 5-10 minute video presentation to give an introduction of yourself and share with our students (grades 4-5) about your field of study, research, projects, educational/work experience, etc. In your presentation, try to cover the answers to the following questions:
- What you do in a STEM field
- Why you chose your major/career
- Something cool you're working on
- How you use the Engineering Design Process (EDP)
- Ask: What is the problem? What have others done?
- Imagine: What are some solutions?
- Plan: Draw a diagram. What materials will I need?
- Create: Build my design and test it out.
- Improve: How can I make my design better?
- Fun facts about yourself
You can share pictures or visual aids to help illustrate what you do and/or projects you've worked on in the presentation. You can record your video, upload it onto Vimeo or YouTube, and send it to sabes@jhu.edu.
